Vot-ER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to integrate civic engagement into healthcare. Founded in 2019, we develop nonpartisan civic engagement tools and programs for every corner of the healthcare system—from medical schools to hospitals to national health policy. Our work is driven by a community of health care professionals, organizers, clinical students, and technologists united by a common vision: healthy communities powered by inclusive democracy. Together, we've expanded Vot-ER programs into over 700 hospitals and clinics and directly helped more than 70,000 Americans prepare to vote. And we're just getting started - and excited for this next phase of growth.
Role Overview:
The VP of Partnerships & Coalition Building role will create and drive Vot-ER’s overall strategy to unite healthcare organizations around the vision of healthy communities powered by an inclusive democracy. They will be an essential part of growing and deepening Vot-ER’s partnerships. They will set the vision for the annual Civic Health Month in August and connected events including Civic Holidays such as National Voter Registration Day and Vote Early Day. They will also oversee Vot-ER’s policy work and help build coalitions to advance voter access in healthcare systems and spaces.
The VP of Partnerships & Coalition Building will lead and coach our high-performing team to deliver on Partnerships objectives through effective cross-functional collaboration and strong external relationships. As a key leader in the organization, they will also actively collaborate with cross-functional peers to shape the overall growth, optimization, and maturing of Vot-ER organizational strategies, systems, and culture. This role will ultimately help us craft the new frontier of Partnerships & Coalition Building at Vot-ER.
Role Responsibilities:
Build and drive the overall Partnerships & Coalition Building strategy to extend the Vot-ER footprint and impact in powering inclusive democracy
Develop, lead, and operationalize growth and outreach strategies which includes (but not limited to): prospecting approach, relationship cultivation, pipeline development & health tracking, and partnerships portfolio management
Build and integrate systems for measuring partnerships impact and relationship health
Advance the multidisciplinary components of Vot-ER’s healthcare work to create a broad community including physicians, social workers, nurses, and more
Build and steward our Civic Health Month coalition of health organizations committed to advancing civic engagement
Partner with the Organizing team on strategy for civic holidays including National Voter Registration Day
Collaborate with the Organizing team to reach hospitals and state-based health association chapters to help grow and scale Vot-ER’s efforts
Lead our policy efforts to engage with Health & Human Services and major health associations to advance voter access in the context of health & healthcare
Steward how Vot-ER’s brand and messaging show up in external presentations
Support the Development Team to identify and connect with corporate sponsorship partners
Build, lead and coach Partnerships team to reliably deliver on committed objectives and to flourish in their careers at Vot-ER
Job requirements
As the VP of Partnerships and Coalition Building at Vot-ER, you will have:
At least 3 years of experience creating and driving strategy for building, growing, and leading strategic partnerships
Nuanced understanding of how to develop and nurture partnerships and coalitions to activate stakeholder actions
Significant experience creating and delivering engaging presentations to senior organizational leaders
Experience overseeing the creation and use of tracking systems to help the team keep track of Vot-ER’s many stakeholders
Preferred to have and understanding of and experience in the healthcare landscape
Interest in bringing a nonpartisan orientation to their work, and feels comfortable navigating varied stakeholder audiences who cover a wide spectrum of political beliefs
Expertise and enthusiasm in managing both experienced and early-career team members, including interns and volunteers
Experience leading organizations and teams through change, including partnering with and influencing stakeholders without formal reporting authority
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to successfully work with a diverse set of team members, communication & processing styles, and career experiences
A desire to build, create and test innovative approaches in a startup-like environment
An ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Strength in clear and engaging communication - both verbally and in writing
Comfort in a movement where staff and other stakeholders such as volunteers, health professionals, and interns work closely and seamless together
Experience using Google Suite, Zoom, and other online tools to communicate effectively

Work Environment/Compensation:
This is a remote, full-time role. Vot-ER offers a flexible, remote work environment. We have core working hours of 12 pm to 5 pm eastern time, Monday through Friday. During those hours, all employees are expected to be available for meetings and collaboration. Outside of those core hours, each employee sets their own schedule, while recognizing that due to the collaborative nature of the Vot-ER work and mission, employees will often arrange meetings outside of core Vot-ER hours.
Annual salary ranges from $105,000 to $125,000 with health insurance benefits, a retirement plan, flexible time off policy, and reimbursements for travel-related costs.
